Horses for K.I.C.'s

We created Horses for K.I.C.'s to offer a unique approach to promoting wellness for children, particularly children being cared for outside their birth families.  
 

In partnering with horses, we are able to connect with young people to develop real skills through tailored activities that guide them in a self-directed process.  We create the opportunity, promote safety and offer insight and skill development.  The horse offers a safe emotional place and immediate natural feedback.

 

Children often feel safer and more anchored when interacting with the horse.  It is a powerful healing connection that appears almost magical yet is rooted in science.  Horses naturally promote a sense of calm emotional balance and even connect organically with those they work with.

 

Our spaces are trauna informed and we have experience supporting young people with:

  • Depression

  • Attachment Disorders

  • Anxiety

  • Grief and Loss

  • Trauma

  • FASD

  • Physical limitations

  • Challenging behaviours

Individual Sessions

90 minutes

Single Session $100

4 sessions $375

Each session includes instruction in basic horsemanship and personal development coaching.  Caregiver participation is required for children with additional support needs. 

Requirements:

  • Completion of waiver for minor participant and caregiver

  • Footwear with closed-toe and heel

  • FEI/SEI Certified helmet for all minor participants. Adults are encouraged to use helmets. 

 

 

Family/Sibling Group Sessions

120 minutes

(2 to 6 participants - including adult supports)

Single Session $150

4 sessions $600

Each session includes instruction in basic horsemanship and personal development coaching.  These sessions focus on individual self-awareness, communication and understanding within the interpersonal relationships. 

Requirements:

  • FEI/SEI Certified helmet for all minor participants.  Adults are encouraged to use helmets. 

  • Footwear with closed-toe and heel

  • Completion of waiver for all participants
